Aoife O'Halloran: Starting At Ecanvasser

the first month of the year,
A perfect time to start all over again,
Changing energies and deserting old moods,
New beginnings, new attitudes”
-Charmaine J. Forde

Today, Monday the 15th of January is (un)affectionately known as Blue Monday, as it is 'allegedly' the bleakest day of the year. We at Ecanvasser don’t really subscribe to this theory (we have really good coffee in the office) and with that in mind, Ciara asked me to share some positivity on this January day and give a few insights into my first week here in the office.

As with all new beginnings, I approached my first week with mixed emotions; a dash of nervousness, a hint of trepidation but most of all, excitement. Luckily, any fears I may have had quickly dissipated, thanks to the warm welcome I received. It became quickly apparent that the team at Ecanvasser is a close-knit one, where the hard graft is paired with laughter.

I spent my first week getting to grips with what exactly we offer at Ecanvasser and Voxcitio (our Public Consultation software). Hint: a lot. Ecanvasser is so much more than just a canvassing app, it’s a platform to innovate the worldwide political campaigning landscape. I spent a lot of time with Mick Gilley, head of Partnerships here at Ecanvasser, with whom I will be working closely, and I could not have asked for a better person to guide me through my first week.

A standout moment for me was a conversation I had with Brendan, CEO of Ecanvasser, who explained his vision for the company. Brendan said when he founded Ecanvasser, he felt he needed to work with people who had a similar entrepreneurial mindset to his own. It is clear to me that the power of Ecanvasser lies not only within its functionality but also, within the talented bunch of people who work here (I realize I am also giving myself a compliment here but, you know, I will take it.)

I am incredibly excited to begin my work here as Partnership Development Executive. My own background is a varied one; I studied Politics with French and worked in the Public Affairs arena in Brussels and have also worked in fashion styling, travel and, as Santa’s elf (that’s a story for another day.) This role is perfect for me as it combines my passion for politics and innovation, with, well, my other passion, which is talking (you can ask my mother, I have barely taken a breath since birth.) For me, an integral aspect of politics is fostering and developing relationships with citizens and stakeholders and I look forward to doing the same with current and future partners of Ecanvasser.

I would love to hear from you, you can add me on LinkedIn or contact me directly:
